IMA launches campaign against sex determination
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has launched a campaign titled
“Stop Sex Selection: Doctors Can Make a Difference” ---- against prenatal sex determination, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund.

IMA ENDORSES
The Indian Medical Association (ima) will now endorse PepsiCo’s Tropicana fruit juices and its breakfast cereal Quaker Oats—the first time in the world that a medical association will endorse a food product. Terming it a “partnership for health”, the association’s secretary-general, S N Misra, said although the company had not paid money for the endorsement, PepsiCo may sponsor the association’s conferences and meetings for three years, the agreement period.
ima has endorsed the Tropicana fruit juice only. PepsiCo has other products, which it calls Tropicana fruit beverage and these come in similar packaging as the fruit juice.
IMA criticises Baba Ramdev

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has criticised Yoga guru Baba Ramdev for his remarks against doctors practising modern medicine and over his claims on cancer cure.

The IMA said Ramdev had allegedly remarked during an ongoing yoga camp here that doctors are ‘propagators of diseases and are encashing on patients' illness’.

The apex body of medicos has challenged the popular guru over his claims of curing diseases such as cancer and AIDS through yogic methods like pranayama (a breathing exercise).

SC refuses to entertain IMA plea against ayurvedic doctors.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to entertain a PIL challenging the permission given by several state governments to ayurvedic doctors allegedly practising allopathy.

IMA-Safexpress conference on healthcare logistics

"The logistics industry can provide super-specialised handling of the healthcare product through a strong cold chain in addition to faster transit time and TAT. Therefore, the purpose of being a part of this conference was to disseminate information on how logistics can play a crucial role in the healthcare industry," Pawan Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, Safexpress, stated. Safexpress made a presentation to the Indian medical fraternity on 'The importance of supply chain and logistics in healthcare industry' during the IMA annual conference.
Health care industry is a $40 billion industry in India and is expected to grow to nearly $80 billion by 2012. Safexpress and IMA have been working together to mobilise the very perspective that organised logistics is imperative for the success of effective health care distribution.
