what is caudaceus ? HOW OUR IMA LOGO EVOLVED ?

the evolution of medical fraternity's symbol --- Doctors' symbol:
"IMA LOGO"

Apart from so many beliefs of roman & greek cultures, our vedic wisdom pronounces as follows
the serpents are "ida" and "pingala" ( the parasymphathetic chains on both sides of spinal cord ) and the staff is "sushumna" the spinal cord and the wings depicts the both hemispheres of the brain.

Dhanvantari- the healing god arises from the churning of the milkyway galaxy having the powers of sri vishnu in stabilising our bodies- is the ancient symbol of medical profession.

indian medical association logo has an extra items surrounding the common doctor symbol, depicting the lamp-symbolic for wisdom and two olive shoots-symbolic for peace -entwined in a banner having the name of the association and year of establishment.

In roman and american culture, it is typically depicted as a short herald's staff entwined by two serpents in the form of a double helix, and is sometimes surmounted by wings. In later Antiquity the caduceus might have provided the basis for the astrological symbol representing the planet Mercury.

AMERICAN MEDICAL ASOCIATION SYMBOL --- A staff or rod, with a single snake curled around it. It is the staff or rod of Aesculapius (also called Asklepios), the ancient mythical god of medicine.

According to mythology, Asculapius had a number of children including Hygieia, the goddess of health (from whose name comes the word "hygiene") and Panaceia, the goddess of healing (from whose name comes the word "panacea" for a universal remedy).

shouldn't the two serpents in the ima symbol be representing the two sympathetic chains running on either side of the spine? ( your post mentions parasympathetics..)
