sun's chariot turns towards north in the sky.

radha saptami denotes that the lord surya turns towards the uttaraayan and Radha Saptami is of great importance as the earth's inclination towards the sun is steepest on the day and Ratha Saptami is symbolic of the change of season to spring and the start of the harvesting season.
