2) Enhancement of post graduate seats in medical colleges
there is a need for imparting specialist training to more number of MBBS Graduates.
MCI is currently allowing more post graduate seats with existing faculty and facilities i.e. two seats for each professor / associate professors etc. so, an extra intake of nearly 250 post graduates students in various specialties in government medical colleges of our state.
The present intake of P.G. seats is 1050 this will increase the total number of post graduate students intake to around 1300 per year.
3) Improvement of services and diagnostic facilities in teaching hospitals by public private partnership (PPP Model).
Dialysis facility is planned in 11 centers with 111 machines in the state, under Arogyasri Scheme. Already 5 centers have been inaugurated and the remaining centers will start functioning by the end of Feb, 2010. Dialysis units opened in Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Kakinada, and Osmania General Hospital, Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad/Secunderabad.
4) Specialty training for basic nurses.
Government is running GNM courses in all teaching hospitals, for training basic nurses. There are also a few B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing colleges imparting training to nurses.
However, large number of Nurses in the state have undergone GNM course only, and they are not eligible to study B.Sc or M.Sc course and do specialization.
In view if this, government is permitting GNM Nurses to join two year B.Sc Nursing course(Post Basic Nursing) and subsequently M.Sc Course, by starting a course called Post-Basic Nursing.
Presently there is severe shortage of specialist nurses and this will improve with Post Basic Nursing Courses.
